In accordance to legislation, for entry Russia foreign citizens can receive different kinds of Russian visas, which depend on entry purpose. They may be:

Usual (Ordinary) visas are divided into: - Travel - Business - Private - And others
Also Russian visas differ on quantity of entries allowed (single, double & multi entry) and type (entry-&-exit visa, entry visa and so on).
Russian business visa is issued only if you plan a business travel to Russia. It may be useful for those travelers who visit Russia very often and do not know the exact itinerary. Russian private visa is issued if you have a personal invitation from a Russian citizen. It may be useful for those travelers who intend to visit their relatives or friends. Sometimes it may be difficult and complicated to receive these kinds of visas. For business visas (especially for single and double entry visas) it may be not cost effective and for private visas (especially for trip that lasts less than 30 days) it may takes a lot of time to obtain them.
So in these cases we advice you to apply for russian travel visa.
Russian travel visa is issued if you have a tourist travel to Russia & booked accommodation in St Petersburg Russia. Russian travel visas may be:
- Single entry russian travel visa It only permits you to enter and exit the country once. Russian travel visas are issued for up to 30 days of staying in Russia. If you plan to travel outside of Russia and then to return you will need a double entry Russian travel visa
- Double entry Russian travel visa It is available at some Russian consulates but it costs more and the exact dates of both entries/exits from Russia are stated in it.
