There are a lot of shops in St Petersburg Russia (because it is a profitable business). Many of them work for 24 hours. Huge stores have a great choice of different food, beverages and other goods by world known international brands.Water is very soft (it is called “Nevskaya”) and is reasonably cleaned and filtered. But it is not recommend to drink it from tap (but some Russians do it).
The most famous Russian alcohol drink is Russian Vodka. You may find it almost in every shop and it costs quite cheap. Do not buy it in small retail kiosks, because there are a lot of false bottles of vodka.
Also there are a lot of beer, vine and other alcohol drinks by domestic producers as well as international.Periodically you may find some drunk man on the streets (but not often in the center, where police do not allow to be too much drunk). So, if you are drunk a little, it is not blamed in the city, but drunking heavily increases the chance of being mugged and for other risks, especially if you are alone. Do not hesitate to ask your guide any delicate questions. They will give a hand to you. Smoking is a widely spread habit. You will not see any anti-tobacco campaigns (excepting aircrafts and other rare places).
